Oh hi :)
From an early age, I embraced the arts as my sanctuary. Do you remember the giant VHS cameras? Imagine a curly-headed brunette mother (in late 80’s/early 90’s garb) holding up one of those bad boys on her shoulder while her two-year-old stood up on a popcorn tin with a toilet paper roll as a microphone for hours on end.
“Casey, I think the battery is dying…” she would say wearily when she finally decided she needed a break. Ha!
By age five, I performed in my first play, and by age eight, I was dancing four to five days a week. At 12, I joined a professional touring production of A Christmas Carol (C.D.) and later attended a performance arts high school, specializing in theater and dance. As a teen, life presented challenges that tested my spirit. Eating disorders, sexual abuse, and substance misuse caused me to struggle with confidence and mental health. These struggles led me to step away from the arts for a time. A bit unsure of what to do next, I chose to get a degree in Anthropology at The University of Texas at Austin.
After earning my degree and deciding NOT to go into Anthropology (lol), I channeled my passion for movement, healing, and adventure into teaching yoga, body image coaching, and a decade-long career as a flight attendant. My yoga journey began in 2008, earning certifications in Bikram Yoga, Dharma Yoga (2013), advanced Dharma Yoga (2014), Yoga for Eating Disorders, and Yoga for All. Each practice deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection, laying the groundwork for my work as a coach and facilitator. My flight attendant experience taught me crisis management, it deepened my emotional intelligence, and it taught me the art of making people feel safe while in motion, lessons I now bring into my creative and community work.
In 2020, when the pandemic hit, I faced a pivotal moment. I was furloughed from my day job, struggling with postpartum depression, and ready to rediscover myself. That year marked the beginning of my personal and professional rebirth. In 2021, I became a certified eating disorder coach under Dr. Dorie McCubbrey, furthering my commitment to helping others heal their relationships with food and their bodies.
A life-threatening experience with abortion in 2021 became a profound turning point. It reignited my artistic spirit and introduced me to the healing power of psychedelics.
Reclaiming my identity as an artist, I began teaching and competing in pole dancing, performing original music, and creating dance works in New York City. In 2023, I debuted my one-woman show, combining storytelling, pole dance, and original music. The performance, held at Drom Theater in NYC, was a fundraiser for the Lilith Fund, supporting safe abortion access in my home state of Texas.
My journey inspired my newest project: The Portal House. This creative flex space is a living response to everything I learned about healing, creativity, and survival. It’s a community space designed to support artist mothers through art, embodiment, and shared care, honoring the truth that we are not meant to do this alone.
With over a decade of experience in yoga instruction, a certification in eating disorder coaching, performance, and flight attendant experience, I bring a unique blend of modalities to my work. My certifications, alongside 10 years of eating disorder recovery and 4 years free from alcohol, inform my compassionate approach to guiding others through their own transformations.
Today, as a mother, artist, wife, and healer, I feel honored to hold space for others on their journeys. Whether through movement, music, or community projects, my mission is to empower folks to embrace their wildest, most magical selves.
