Dear audience,

This show was born from a promise I made to myself on what could have been the last day of my life.

When I was rushed to a Manhattan hospital in 2021, facing a potentially fatal ectopic pregnancy, I realized with devastating clarity: if I died, I would leave no cohesive body of work behind. Nothing that fully captured the truth of my experience as a mother, an artist, a survivor, a woman healing through grief, depression, joy, rage, and ultimately, magic.

This piece is part of that body of work. It is a living, breathing reclamation of my story, of pleasure, of pain, of art, and of finding my voice.

This is not just my story. It’s our story. The mothers, the artists, the healers, the lost, the recovering, the lovers, the weirdos, the ones who scream into pillows and still show up.

Casey Urban (she/her) is a writer, performer, mother, wife, and portal magic witch whose work bridges storytelling, embodiment, and ritual. With over a decade of experience as a yoga teacher, coach, and healer, Casey’s art is deeply informed by her journey through eating disorder recovery, sobriety, motherhood, and psychedelic healing. She has published in PopSugar, Pathways Magazine, and Substack, and has traveled across the U.S. as a healer and artist. Casey is the founder of The Portal House, a creative sanctuary for artist mothers, and is devoted to midwifing the rebirth of creative energy through magic, art, and embodied truth.
